Summer Couples Getaway Itinerary
Fully Customizable
Day 1. Talkeetna Mountain UTV
and Gold Panning
Start your trip with a true Alaska adventure you can share from the very beginning. Ride through creeks and mountain terrain before climbing high into the Talkeetna Mountains, where the views open up in every direction. We’ll stop for lunch, take in the scenery, and slow down for a gold panning experience that adds a fun, memorable touch to the day. You’ll also learn about the gold mining history of Hatcher Pass and search for gold, turquoise, quartz, and other minerals. During blueberry season (August and September), we can stop to pick wild blueberries along the way.
Day 2. Wildlife, Glacier Views, and a Scenic Walk
This day combines some of Alaska’s most memorable sights in one relaxed, beautiful outing. Enjoy a scenic drive through Hatcher with a stop at Beluga Point for photos, then visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to see wolves, grizzly bears, black bears, moose, reindeer, and more. After lunch, continue on to view Portage Glacier before heading out on a guided walk to Byron Glacier. Surrounded by rugged mountains and glacier scenery, it’s an easy way to experience Alaska’s wild beauty side by side.
This is a scenic, easy hike of about 2 miles.
Day 3. Off-Road Adventure to Knik Glacier
Spend the day exploring one of the most dramatic landscapes in Southcentral Alaska. Travel by off-road vehicle across glacier rivers and black silt beaches on the way to Knik Glacier, with incredible scenery the entire route. Once you arrive, you’ll take in close-up views of this massive glacier, which stretches more than 25 miles long and 5 miles wide. It’s the kind of Alaska experience that feels exciting, remote, and unforgettable to share together.
Day 4. Freshwater Fishing in a Peaceful Alaska Setting
For couples who enjoy slower, scenic days with a local touch, freshwater fishing is a great change of pace. Willow Creek is known for salmon fishing, and our guide will take you to a prime local spot where you can fish for salmon, trout, and pike. It’s a peaceful way to spend time outdoors together while still enjoying a classic Alaska experience. If you make a catch, we’ll process, pack, and freeze it so you can bring it home.
Day 5. Denali View Tundra Hiking
End your summer itinerary with wide-open mountain scenery and one of Alaska’s most iconic views. We’ll use a UTV to bring you high into the mountains, where your hike begins with Denali in the background on clear days. From there, you’ll explore beautiful alpine ridges with exclusive access to some of the area’s most scenic terrain. It’s a quiet, unforgettable way to experience Alaska together, with fresh air, sweeping views, and the chance to spot wildlife along the way.
Winter Couples Getaway Itinerary
Fully Customizable
Day 1. Arrival and a Cozy First Night
Day
Your trip begins with transportation to Hatcher Pass Castle, with welcome stops along the way if you would like to pick up refreshments or a few personal items before arriving. Once at the castle, settle in, unwind, and enjoy the property at your own pace. It’s a comfortable, low-stress start to your Alaska getaway.
Night
Welcome Dinner: Enjoy a warm, hearty dinner and settle into the relaxed rhythm of your stay.
Northern Light Hunting 101: Learn how the aurora works, how to read the forecast, and how to photograph it—so if the lights appear during your trip, you can enjoy the moment and be ready for it together.
Day 2. Snow UTV Ride with Denali Views
Ride in our heated, enclosed snow UTV as you travel through the forest and climb into the Talkeetna Mountains. On clear days, this route offers breathtaking panoramic views, including the chance to see Denali, Mt. Foraker, and Mt. Hunter from high above the valley floor. We also bring snowshoes along, so if conditions are right, your guide can lead you on a quiet snowshoe walk along the ridges. It’s an exciting day, but still comfortable and easy to enjoy together.
Day 3. Mountain Snowmobile Adventure
Experience one of Alaska’s classic winter adventures side by side. Your guide will first help you get comfortable on our brand-new 2026 Polaris snowmobiles with practice laps around the property before heading into the mountains. From there, you’ll follow winter trails up into scenic alpine terrain, with the chance to catch distant glacier views on clear days. For experienced riders, there may also be opportunities for more advanced powder riding. This day keeps the adventure level high while still feeling personal and fully guided.
Day 4. Guided Glacier Hike
Spend the day on the stunning Matanuska Glacier, where the landscape feels almost unreal in winter. With a guide leading the way, you’ll walk across the ice, see glacier formations up close, and explore features like tunnels and caves depending on conditions. It’s one of those Alaska experiences that feels both adventurous and awe-inspiring, with dramatic scenery in every direction.
Day 5. Ice Fishing in the Alaskan Backcountry
This day brings together quiet scenery, winter wilderness, and the fun of trying something distinctly Alaskan together. Travel into the backcountry by snow UTV, then settle in for an ice fishing experience surrounded by snow-covered landscapes. It’s peaceful, memorable, and a little different from the faster-paced adventure days earlier in the trip. If you catch fish, we’ll process, pack, and freeze it so you can take it home.
Day 6. Departure
Day
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before preparing for departure.
Night
Scheduled transportation back to Anchorage, with optional stops for souvenir shopping along the way. You’ll arrive at the airport with great memories, incredible photos, and the feeling of having experienced Alaska in a way that was both adventurous and easy.

Avery CaudillWe loved staying at Hatcher Pass Castle! It was so cozy, beautiful, and comfortable. Great accommodations, and especially wonderful to have somewhere close to stay after the late night northern lights ATV tour! Highly recommend!! This business is very accomodating and great to work with!
NinaHolderHatcher Pass Castle exceeded our expectations. Out of our 2 week visit to Alaska, Hatcher Pass Castle was our favorite! We wish we had stayed more nights here! It was very peaceful and so beautiful! The room was clean and comfortable and had a noise machine with bird noises on for relaxing.
Eski PoleOur stay at Hatcher Pass Castle was very peaceful and beautiful! Our room was extremely clean and comfortable, and we felt as if we had endless hot water, which we truly appreciated! We especially loved the water, soda, and personal care.
Rebecca WI absolutely loved my stay. I only wish I could have stayed longer! I ended at the Castle by providence. I was struggling to find a place to stay for the first night of a busy holiday weekend. I didn't want to drive 2 hours after getting off of a 6 hour flight.
Kristi LePoreWe absolutely loved our stay at the Hatcher Pass Castle—we didn't want to leave! The rooms are beautifully decorated, comfortable, and peaceful; you can even hear the soothing sound of the river across the road.
JJ MiltenbergerPlace was awesome! Off the beaten path really gave it the Alaskan feel! Off the grid added to the charm, but internet worked flawlessly. The sound of nearby river was really relaxing. Room was super cozy and check in was a breeze. Definitely would recommend to others.
Joni OltIf you need a break from the hustle of Wasilla/Anchorage this is a pretty great spot. VERY QUIET! Grab a chair on the balcony and enjoy the mountain views and listen to the river! A unique lodge where the rooms are warm and cozy.
Kathy NechanickyOf our 9 days in Alaska, Hatchers Pass Castle was by far one of our favorite locations! Great communication and thoughtful personal touches. Every staff member was personable. Based on their knowledge, we decided to drive Hatchers Pass.

Dennis MeeksDid a snow mobile tour with Noah he made the whole experience amazing. Also stayed 2 nights. beautiful views and the room was amazing thank u ting and Dan for everything.
Prem MukherjeeThe rooms and hospitality here are great. Everything is new and in great condition. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the property didn't match the expectation set by the photos used to advertise it.
John CasertaLoved staying here. Wonderful area way out from everything. Beautiful views. The room was great, clean and comfy, little welcome bag waiting inside. My wife booked this room BEFORE we even knew they offered SxS offroad tours. So that was a huge bonus. 5/5 would recommend.
EECC TravelsWe had SO MUCH FUN on this tour!! Our guide Mike was awesome and he took us off-road riding through creeks, mud and rocks. Not to mention being in the most beautiful location imaginable!! I 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska!!
